When you go to home improvement shops or any stores that sell lighting fixtures, you will be surprised that there are so many different types of outdoor lighting that you can choose from. This might make it difficult for you to select the perfect one for your outdoor space, especially if you have no idea about such things. If you want to choose the ideal outdoor lighting for your garden or yard, you need to know the different types and their features. Accent Lights. This type of lighting for the outdoors is used if you want to emphasize one part of your garden or yard. For instance, if you have a sculpture, fountain, or an interesting tree in your front yard, you can install accent lights around it to make it the focal point of your garden.

Lights Lanterns

Security Lights. As the name suggests, this provides you with much-needed security and safety especially in these times of crimes and violence. You can install these lights near your front door or entry way and no one will ever think of entering your property or house.

Path Lights. You will install path lights if you want to light the walkway or pathway that leads to your front door. These look like street lights and they need to be placed at the top of a post.

Spotlights. These are also called area lights or flood lights. These are also used for emphasizing one part of your yard like accent lights but spotlights cover a much wider area. Because of this feature, it can also act as a security light that discourages any people who want to trespass or steal something from your house or property.

Lanterns. If you want to make your garden look like something out of a fairytale or an old movie, you should install lanterns. Lanterns have different kinds - wall, post, and hanging.
