Decorate Your Reception With Chinese Lanterns

Are you looking for a way to add color and illumination to your wedding? Are you also hoping to make your reception very festive without spending a fortune? If so, you are in luck, because you can get all of that and more when you decorate your reception with Chinese lanterns.

Chinese lanterns are essentially wire frames covered in paper. They are usually round, and are often lit from within for a colorful soft glow. The fun thing about Chinese lanterns is that they come in every color imaginable, and can be used to enhance almost any type of wedding décor.

Lights Lanterns

Outdoor weddings are a great place to use Chinese lanterns. The festive globes will look fantastic suspended from the trees, especially for a reception that will be going into the evening hours. You can hang them individually from branches of trees, or drape a long string of mini lanterns from tree to tree. Another idea is to create a grid of clear wire over the tables at the reception, and to hang the lanterns over the seating area for an intimate glow.

The lanterns are also a great addition to an indoor wedding. Naturally if you are having an Asian inspired wedding, you must have Chinese lanterns, but they are great for other themes as well. The lanterns can be used as accents over the reception tables in lieu of renting costly chandeliers. They will also give you a bright pop of color over each table, which means that you will not need to do as much with flowers and centerpieces.

Traditionally, Chinese lanterns come in white, but there is no need to limit yourself to a light color. Many brides love to use the lanterns as a way to quickly add color throughout the entire reception area. Paper lanterns will be a much more affordable way to do this than many of the alternatives. They can give you a big look for a small price.

It often looks best to choose two or three colors for your lanterns. Some of the best combinations are the boldest, such as orange and fuchsia. Pink and green is another winning color combination, and it is perfect for the preppy bride. If you are having a fall wedding, try using deep red, gold, and rust orange together. For the most drama, you can't beat the pairing of red and black lanterns.

Because the Chinese lanterns will make such a strong impact on your reception venue, you want to make sure that the rest of your wedding ties in with them. In other words, if you are using the lanterns as your main source of color, be sure to carry touches of those colors into the rest of your design. You want to have a good balance.

For example, if you had white linens and white flowers, orange and hot pink Chinese lanterns would draw too much of the attention to the ceiling. A better look would be to use the bright lanterns, and to layer in the orange and hot pink in the rest of the room. You could lay orange napkins over the white tablecloths. Add some pink flowers into the white centerpieces, and tie an orange and pink striped grosgrain ribbon around the vessel. The bridal party can get in on the act, too. Choose bridesmaid jewelry in hot pink crystals (the jewelry will also make a great bridesmaid gift). The men in the wedding party can wear pocket squares in your chosen colors. Now you have a wedding that looks unified.

You can't beat Chinese lanterns for an inexpensive way to brighten up your wedding. Brides are finding that they are as versatile as they are festive. They are a classic fun party idea that is sure to add a great look to your reception space.

Feel Safer With Outdoor Wall Sconces

When we think of lighting our home, we usually think about interior lights and lamps, whether hanging from the ceiling, nestling of the wall or free-standing floor lamps, and take our time choosing the best style for our rooms. Outdoor lighting is just as important as indoor and should be chosen with equal care. Outdoor lighting plays a significant role in making you and your guests feel safe and welcome on dark evenings. It can light up awkward corners or steps, help you in identifying callers and dissuade intruders. In short, if you light up your home on the outside, you will feel safer inside.

Lights on either side of the front door create a very favourable first impression of your house by creating a welcoming glow. Visitors can be identified and enter your house safely, and your doorbell and keyhole will be illuminated. For extra security, any side of the house that would normally be in shadow could by illuminated and a wall light on the face of the garage will give extra security and safety if you use the garage at night. Any or all of these can be fitted with motion-sensors or dimmers to save energy and an automatic timer could be installed so that lights (both indoors and out) can be switched on or off while you are away to deter intruders.

Lights Lanterns

It is important to choose your outdoor lighting to match the style of your house and add to its aesthetic value, but whether you choose Fine Arts lanterns, Roman bronze wall sconce lighting or an unusual antler chandelier is entirely down to personal preference. All are available and all will do the job equally well. Using several low light sconces rather than one bright light will create welcoming illumination without causing light pollution, intruding on your neighbours' privacy or dazzling your visitors as they blink to adjust to the sudden light.

Wall sconces or lanterns should be mounted above head height for safety reasons and these are better than recessed wall lights or spotlights, particularly at the front door because they provide an even, welcoming glow. Paths and driveways can also be illuminated for safety and aesthetic value, lighting the way for family and friends and highlighting your prize rose bush, shrubbery or flower bed. Low level, inexpensive path lights or post lanterns will add pools of soft and welcoming light to make you feel happy you are coming home. If you have decking or a patio, you might you may want to add some concealed low-voltage lighting to create a romantic ambiance for a night under the stars with your loved one.

Lighting the outside of your home can be deeply satisfying and rewarding. A tastefully lit exterior is not just about safety and security. It makes a statement about your home and those who live in it and enables you and your family to spend pleasurable time outdoors as well as in.

Rustic Kitchen Lighting

The "farmhouse" look is all the rage in today's kitchen design. Natural materials, fresh cut flowers, and whimsical pastel hues are taking the place of heavy, expensive décor in many contemporary homes. What better to complement the refreshing look of farmhouse style than rustic kitchen lighting?

Rustic lighting is loosely defined, but these fixtures typically feature an antique or vintage feel. Look for distressed finishes and "open" designs that create an inviting glow. Want to capture the farmhouse look in your own home? Try these rustic kitchen lighting tips.

Lights Lanterns

  • "Farmhouse" Pendants: Often used as entry/foyer lights, these tend to feature an open cage design with a traditional candelabra base. A hot trend in kitchen design is using these pendants in lieu of the typical chandelier over a kitchen table or island. This creates an incredibly warm, inviting look!
  • Rustic Chandeliers: Two exciting new trends in rustic chandelier design are distressed or multi-toned finishes, and frames that resemble leather "strapping." These styles are perfect for those who want to achieve a slightly bucolic look, but retain a touch tradition at the same time.
  • Outdoor Lights, Inside. Many of today's outdoor wall lights are designed with a careful attention to detail - why not consider using them indoors for an enviable look? Try gas lantern-inspired outdoor wall sconces in the kitchen to transform your space into a rustic haven, reminiscent of old world inns or pubs.
  • Vintage-Inspired Mini Pendants: Mini pendant fixtures may be one of the hottest contemporary trends in kitchen design, but they can certainly be used to create a rustic effect! Look for styles with antique elements, like gas lantern "turnkeys", metal shades, and weathered finishes. Copper or bronze finishes also work particularly well.
Rustic kitchen lighting will help you create a timeless and fresh look in your kitchen - one of the most frequented rooms in the home! For more expert kitchen lighting tips, check out the "Lighting Trends" area on our site!

Nature's Tiny Lantern Lights

Amid indigo layers of twilight,

stars wink brightly in to sight.

Lights Lanterns

Verdant grasses, cool and plush,

quiet footfalls; in the glen--a hush.

The sultry night enfolds me,

in a summery embrace.

It sighs and whispers at my ear,

Look upon the lea, find the magic that is near.

From the ground they slowly rise,

the dusk-enchanted fireflies.

Night's escorts putting on a show,

flashing pulses of yellow-green they glow.

These tiny creatures of twilight,

are the Earth's heartbeat, given form.

They that herald each summer night,

carried on the breath of dreams,

are in fleeting beauty borne.

The color of sunlight on new winter rye,

is captured in nature's tiny lantern lights.

And a smiling part inside me, soaring . . .

. . . floats with them, in their flight.

:: ~ ~ ~ :: * * * :: ~ ~ ~ ::

Magic in the Touch

How I savor summer nights,

and evenings in spring

when days grow longer,

and the dusk doth bring,

like jewels capering

on a spider's silken string,

tiny lanterns gliding

on invisible wings.

How seeming right, I realize,

the color of their light.

How like a precious gemstone,

the sweet, familiar sight.

There surely is no mistaking,

that their golden-verdant glow,

is like the gorgeous hue

of the August peridot!

And should by happy circumstance,

I'm allowed to join them in their dance,

I'll lift my outstretched hands high

and if one of them doth alight

I'll cup it tenderly and draw it nigh.

I'll laugh and smile, dip and twirl

When breathless, I shall pause

to gaze up at the stars awhirl

and offer my silent applause.

If then my tiny visitor decides

the time has come to depart

to join its twinkling kindred

adancing in the dark . . .

I'll bid goodbye

and give my thanks

all with a happy sigh,

for the magic in the touch

. . . of the gentle firefly.

Tips To Choosing A Good Lantern

Lighting a room is important as it helps to enhance the beauty of the room. Many people use lanterns to light up rooms. The many types available in the market today may make it difficult for one to choose on a source of light for their house. Here are some tips to help you choose one that is suitable for your room and worth your money's value.

If you are economical and want to save on fuel, consider going for a source of light that conserve fuel or can be recharged. To this end it is advisable to settle for lanterns that have rechargeable batteries or can be refilled. Candle ones burn out after a few hours and may not be a good first choice if saving on fuel costs is a priority for you.

Lights Lanterns

The source of lighting in a room should not cause discomfort to anybody in the room. Sources of light that are noisy, very bright or have funny scents should be avoided at all costs if noisy, extremely bright and scented rooms are not your type. Gas lamps for instance are very bright and very noisy but have no scents. Candle ones on the other hand are less loud and less bright but may come with scents. Battery operated ones are a better choice as they are neither noisy nor scented and provide just the right amount of lighting.

Besides being a source of light, lanterns can serve a great aesthetic function. The modern market provides a variety of beautifully designed ones that one can choose from. The design you choose should match the theme and general outlook of the room you are going to use it in. For instance for bedrooms, one could choose a love heart shaped one. You may want to choose a source of light that not only brings out the beauty of a room, but is also a beauty in itself. To this end, Moroccan ones will be a nice choice as they are a sight to behold and their beautiful design lights up any room no matter how dull the room may be.

Above all it is important to note that different lanterns come with different price tags and the choice of your source of light depends on how much deep one is willing to dig into their pockets.

Tips To Choosing A Good Lantern

Lanterns provide a good way to light up a room. Moroccan Lanterns are beauties to behold while candle Lanterns ones are a choice for those who like camping because of their portability

Candle Lanterns For Any Occasion

A unique way to illuminate your home and backyard patio area is with candle lanterns. They give off moderate light and are designed to resist rain and wind. The lanterns retain the heat of the flame so they are never too hot to pick up should you want to move them around. Most of them even have handles to make moving them around and carrying them easier. You can also hang them by their handles. When they were first devised candle lanterns were made from tin boxes with holes punched in the so light could escape. Today you can still find a candle lantern in that tin replica but it is made of many more materials and styles that tin.

The cage part of a hanging candle lantern is where the candle is held, secured in place so it doesn't move about and ignite the lantern. It also prevents the candle from dripping wax outside the lantern. A candle can burn through the night or as long as it can last without worrying about the wind blowing it out or the rain soaking the wick. They are still mostly made of metal. Tin is common, but you can also find outdoor candle lanterns made of pewter and wrought iron. Then there are some which are made from brass. You can also find paper lanterns where the paper is made of fire retardant material. It depends on the look you are going for.

Lights Lanterns

Hanging candle lanterns are perfect for outdoor areas like patios and gazebos. The light is soft and penetrating without being blinding. They provide a calm to the unknown, so to speak. Try using aromatherapy candles in your lanterns for a truly relaxing effect. You can hang them under trees as a sort of guide through the yard. You can use the at weddings during the day for decoration and then light them up when the festivities start. There are many uses for candle lanterns. Take some time and you'll come up with some ideas of your own.

How to Set-Up a Hanging Paper Lantern

Hanging paper lanterns come in various shapes and sizes and usually come needing assembly. If you want to avoid the assembly process, you can buy pre-assembled lanterns at stores. Generally, though, paper lanterns come needing some assembly. They are easy to set up and use, and they often can be completed within twenty minutes, depending on the complexity of the situation.

Most paper lanterns are ball shaped, and they come with a metal expander. A cord is needed and is often sold separately. Before buying a cord, it is helpful to measure the distance from your electrical outlet to where you want the lantern to hang. Measure up the wall and along the ceiling, and then add two feet for room of error. Common sizes of cords are ten and fifteen feet. If a longer cord is needed you may have to use an extension cord.

Lights Lanterns

Setting up the expander is easy, but one must be careful while doing it. It is easy to rip the paper with the expander; if you rip the paper, your lamp is ruined. Paper lanterns are usually made with some type of wire that runs in a spiral through the paper, and they are usually collapsible, which allows them to be packaged and mailed flat. Since they are collapsible, the metal expanders are needed to prop them fully open. To do this, insert the expander in the top (usually the size of the holes in the lantern are different; the larger hole is the top) and hook the grooves at the bottom on to the edges of the hole at the bottom of the paper. Then, you should pull the paper up to the top of the expander, which should have grooves that hold the paper; the grooves should be placed exactly where they need to be and the placement should be obvious.

Next, you need to run the cord. Plug the cord into the wall, run it up the wall, and use hooks to hold the cord up on the ceiling. Tape can also be used, but use an appropriate kind of tape, such as duct tape, and use it in large quantities. Because tape can lose stickiness, we recommend using hooks. Run the cord along the ceiling and attach the lantern to the end of it. Be sure it looks how you want it.

Next, unplug the cord and screw in the light bulb. When screwing the bulb in, be sure the bulb is as in the middle of the lantern as possible; it should not touch the sides, as this can start a fire. CFC bulbs are recommended over incandescent because they produce little heat. Be sure not to exceed the maximum recommended wattage for the cord to reduce the risk of a fire. Once the bulb is screwed in, flip on the on-switch and your light should be working. If it does not, check the connection and make sure the bulb is properly screwed in.

Now you're ready to enjoy your paper lantern.

Antique Lights and Antique Lighting Fixtures

Antique lighting fixtures are an excellent way of enhancing your home. Some very old fixtures, date back to the time of the Romans with their oil lamps. These lamps can still be found but they have little use as forms of lighting, although they can be used as beautiful antique ornaments. When we speak about antique lighting we usually mean lighting fixtures dating back just a few centuries and up until the beginning of the 20th century.

Over that period of time the lighting in the rich houses and castles evolved from wooden and gilded chandeliers to wrought iron or brass and bronze, crystal and later on to gas lamps and electric lights. Over this same period of time, sconces and table lamps also became fashionable and these vary in style from period to period.

Lights Lanterns

The important thing to consider when choosing an antique lighting fixture is that it should not only be in a style that you like, but also that the lighting itself should be complete, as, if there is an element that is missing then it will often be difficult to find it. A missing glass shade, for instance, may prove extremely difficult to find. Another determining factor is where the light will be used and what purpose it is expected to serve.

Ambient fill-in lighting is one of the most important elements to consider. They also explain that to obtain this effect you should use a soft white light which washes the ceiling into the corners of the room and bouncing off the walls. For example, antique lighting sconces are great to create this effect

When lighting your dining room for instance what do you want? A drop or a chandelier? If you choose a chandelier, you should use low-voltage electric bulbs. And to provide fill-in lighting, you should add sconces. You'll also have to take into account the height of the ceiling and the width of the table when choosing the height and the diameter of the light fixture. On the other hand, a drop bowl, will give your room a marvellous source of light which is not direct and washes the whole room.

To light the kitchen antique lighting pendants are perfect over islands, open counters or sinks as they are a good source of light under which to perform kitchen tasks. These can be supplemented by lights over cabinets that don't light the ceiling.

In the bedroom at least one kind of sconce has to be used to give a fill-in lighting effect, otherwise the lighting fixtures should reflect the taste and needs of the people who use the room. Lighting fixtures near the bed will be needed.

Some dealers offer advice on the best way to light a room and on which antique lighting fixture or fixtures to choose. It is often a combination of a central lighting feature plus sconces and table lamps. The fill-in light effect is also important. This effect can be obtained using low-voltage lamp bulbs to which you add sconces.

The budget available which naturally greatly influence your choice of antique lighting fixture. Genuine antiques can be very expensive, and in fact over the last ten years, antique lighting fixtures have more than quadrupled in price. This does, however, have a positive side, as a genuine antique lighting fixture may also represent a good investment.

There are plenty of Internet sites that offer a wide range of antique lighting fixtures. Such sites and showrooms may also offer antique lighting for the exterior of the house such as lanterns and post lights, hanging lights and sconces for your porch.

When buying original and genuine antique lights it is important to buy only articles that have a warranty provided by experts who have a proven track-record for integrity in their field.

There are also dealers who are less scrupulous and claim that their antique lighting fixtures are genuine when in fact they contain just tiny antique parts, all the rest of the light being reproduction. Reproductions, have their place of course, for instance when it is necessary to buy more than one piece, such as in a hotel. In that case the use of replicas may be useful. But it is important to know whether you are buying a genuine antique or a reproduction as their value will differ greatly.

Wrought Iron Lanterns Work Well Indoors and Outdoors

Wrought iron lanterns can add a unique look to both your interior and exterior décor. Inside, they can be placed on tables and used as lamps or suspended from the ceiling or attached to walls to serve as room lighting. Outside they can be used for porch, patio, or deck lighting. Again, they can be suspended from a ceiling or attached to exterior walls.

Because wrought iron is iron that has been heated to a very high temperature so that it becomes soft (or malleable), it can be pounded into many different shapes and designs. For this reason, you have a wide variety of styles of wrought iron lanterns to choose from.

Lights Lanterns

You may even have the advantage of choosing your own design, especially if you live in an area where an ornamental ironworks business is located. You can draw a picture of the design you have in mind and take it to the shop. There, you can discuss the design with the employee who handles such things, and find out how much it would cost, how long it would take, and other information.

Wrought iron lanterns that can be used outside come with wall brackets that can be anywhere from 7" to 12" long. The lanterns that either hang from them or fit flush against them are sized to fit the specific size bracket, so your lantern fixture itself can range from a smaller one to one that is big enough to fit on the larger bracket. Of course, the size of the lantern as well as the design and the light openings will determine how much light the fixture casts.

Wrought Iron Lanterns Work Well Indoors and Outdoors

Speaking of light, most wrought iron lanterns for outside use operate electrically. Inside, however, it is possible to have some that are designed for candle burning or for electrical use. For example, you may be able to find one that even though it is technically considered a wall sconce, it holds a lantern globe. This would be a very unique decorating feature for a living room, hallway, or anywhere you choose to place it.

Light Up the Night with Outdoor Lighting

Outdoor lighting is very critical to the function of your outdoor area when the sun goes down. There are a variety of lights available for use outdoors from simple wall mounts to intricate pathway lighting.

Wall mounts are great for patios and porches. When placed near doors that enter your home they serve as security as well, keeping the dark shadow areas to a minimum. Wall mounts are available in a wide variety of styles, from detailed and decorative wall lanterns to bright and functional flood lights. Wall mounts are great for lighting your outdoor patio or porch since they can be wired from within your house and do not require additional underground work.

Lights Lanterns

Deck post lights and lanterns are another great way to bring light to your porch. This style of lighting attaches to your porch railing, as the name implies. Post lanterns bring light to the outer parts of your porch where wall mounts may not reach.

Path lights or walkway lights are perfect for lighting a sidewalk that leads to a sitting area that is not attached to your home, such as a gazebo or water garden. Solar pathway lights have become very popular since they do not require any underground electrical work. An area away from your house requires a lot of additional lighting for outdoor use since it does not have the capability of having a bright wall mount fixture as the primary source. This additional lighting can be achieved by a variety of landscape lighting techniques including accent lights, spotlights, and garden lanterns.

Chinese lanterns have been around for many years now. Its primary function however, had been for use during war as strategic tactical devices. It had evolved its function into one that is more aesthetic in today's time, as warfare and light has also evolved.

Chinese lanterns are mainly used now during special events and festivities within the Chinese culture and provide for an eye-capturing and memorable scene for many spectators. Sky lanterns or flying lanterns are other terms used to describe these illuminating pieces because they hold the traditional composition of the lantern of a time when electricity did not exist. On a much larger scale however, these sky and flying lanterns are of the size of some hot air balloons. The flame of the lantern serves as the heating element of the hot air balloon, thus giving it the ability to scan the skies above and hence the terms "sky" and "flying". They are typically made of a rice paper material that has is light, yet has the ability to sustain the direct heat within it, which gives it its floating capabilities. The flame can last for several hours before a slow descent back to earth.

Candle Wall Sconces - The Perfect Lighting For Your Bedroom

Often the bedroom is a retreat, and it can be a romantic, relaxing room if properly decorated. Lighting is important for the mood of a room. It can greatly enhance a room, but the wrong type of lighting can ruin the mood. If you are trying to set a romantic mood then forget about electric lights. Instead, try candles, which provide soft lighting and enhance ambiance. You can find candle sconces in a variety of styles. It is easy to install sconces in any place that needs more lighting because they require no wiring or electricity.

Wall Lanterns
Wall lanterns can fit any style room depending on what materials they are made of. Wood, brass, and pewter are excellent for a country or traditional style home. Brushed nickel and chrome update lanterns and fit perfectly in a contemporary room. If you are looking for Zen like accents, then try square wooden bases in dark tones, such as mahogany or ebony. Metal scones in cream, black, or brown look great in many rooms. If you place the lanterns near your bed, they will pick of different tones in your fabric, enhancing them. Wall lanterns also provide the perfect lighting for metal wall art and paintings.

Dramatic Groupings
You can make a dramatic display by grouping a large number of candles. You can find wall holders that will accommodate a number of votive or tea light candles, allowing you to create a focal piece. If you want a symmetric arrangement, try putting a sconce over each nightstand on either side of the bed. You could also try a large arrangement directly over the bed to act as a centerpiece. Be careful when placing a candleholder above a bed or any other piece of furniture because the wax may drip if it is not level.

Mirrors on the Wall
If you want to enhance the atmosphere even more, try placing wall mirrors strategically around the room to catch the candlelight and reflect it. You can also purchase sconces with mirrors already attached as part of the design. You can find the perfect one for your style. There are contemporary mirrors with clean, simple lines; elegant Venetian glass perfect for a Tuscan or French country style; primitive, whimsical styles for a country room.

Versatile Glass Chimneys
One option you may want to consider is a glass chimney. Glass chimneys add class to any room and come in a huge selection. You can get them in colored glass, mosaic glass, and engraved glass. Glass chimneys give an added layer of elegance to any room, and you can find a chimney to match any style you are looking for, including missionary style, minimalist modernism, or traditional elegance.

A Treat for the Senses
If you want to complete the mood, try scented candles. With new scents being created all the time, you will find the perfect one. If you want your room to feel clean and fresh try citrus or fresh linen. If you are missing summer, try lilac, honeysuckle or other floral fragrances. If you are looking for more exotic scents, then choose cinnamon, or other fragrances from India and China like sandalwood and jasmine. Scented candles will provide the finishing touch for the senses when combined with visually stunning candle sconce arrangements.

Paper Lamps Add Spice and Interesting Lighting Choices

The idea of paper lamps adorning your home may sound a little "frat house" for your taste, but these versatile light fixtures may surprise you. As a matter of fact, once you start looking you are likely to find a style of paper lamp that fits in with just about every room in your home. They can be found in such a large variety of colors, shapes and sizes that even the pickiest designer cannot deny that they fit into more decorating schemes than a dorm room next to a bean bag chair.

These lamps can be worked into the decorating scheme of just about any room if you know where and how to use them. To save space and add a little more light to a dim corner, you can hang a cluster of two or three round rice paper lamps from the ceiling. Not only does this add an interesting and unique design to the room, but it also offers an alternative to hanging a permanent light fixture. For safety and aesthetic reasons, use a power cord the same color as your wall and hang the light fixtures behind something, like the entertainment center or a chair. It will keep anyone from tripping over the cord.

Lights Lanterns

Wall sconces are another way to incorporate lamps into the design of your home. They also solve pressing space and light issues you may have because they take up no floor space and give of a soft accent light. These types of lamps are especially popular for rooms with a more earthy color scheme and design. This is especially true if you choose wall sconces where the paper is handmade - or at least looks like it is. Often these are made of rice paper or even cotton.

One of the best known and more traditional uses for these lamps is for outdoor decorating. Round bamboo paper lamps can be strung from a gazebo, trees or fences and serve a dual purpose. They offer necessary light for an outdoor evening picnic while also setting a calm, laid back mood. They can be great for adding an Asian touch or Polynesian accent to your party decorations. Just keep them away from the tiki torches!

These lamps are not solely for hanging from the wall or ceiling. More recent designs have given these former barbeque decorations their own leg to stand on, pun intended. Many contemporary designs are now calling for paper floor lamps to brighten up a room. Similar to the design of hanging lamps, these floor lamps are made of the same rice paper material with a wire or plastic internal structure to keep their shape.

What is different about floor sized lamps is that they can be up to six feet tall or more and come in many abstract or conventional shapes. A popular shape is similar to the silhouette of a person. They can be a little creepy at night when you're walking to the bathroom, so you might want to give yourself time to get used to them. Other styles resemble boxes stacked unevenly on top of one another or a stack of books in a spiral design.

Maybe this is just a personal observation, but it does seem that paper lamps are never alone! Whether they're lighting up a bar-b-que, standing tall or hanging from your ceiling, they always seem to look their best in a group of two or three, sometimes more. No one knows why this is, but it's best not to question the laws of...paper. Whatever the reason is, using a few these lamps together to spruce up a room can be a creative and inexpensive way to add accent light and style.
